Wainwright’s Wonders

Wedding Fairs and magazines are all about the perfect venue.

Here in Cumbria, we have the perfect venue right on our doorstep. The Lake District.  Alfred Wainwright knew this; whether he was climbing his beloved fells or walking along the by the gentle lapping of a lakeshore, he understood the place for its captivating romance. He said;

‘The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal.’

When Wainwright wrote of his love of the area, he wrote in words of warmth and romance.  Many of his quotes are fitting to a wedding ceremony.

We are soon to be up Orrest Head to conduct a wedding ceremony.  By chance, the first fell that Wainwright climbed in the Lake District.  He said of it;

‘Those few hours on Orrest Head cast a spell that changed my life.’

Isn’t that what a perfect wedding ceremony should do? To captivate not only the couple but their guests too.  And to leave them with memories that will last a lifetime.

We have now conducted many outdoor ceremonies, making the most of the beautiful backdrop of the lakes and fells.  Not once has the weather held us back.  Thankfully the sun has alway s shone.  But yet another famous Wainwright quote takes into account the fickle nature of the weather here;

‘Theres no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.’

Any couple in love with the Lake District knows there may be an element of weather to factor into their ceremony.  But the rewards are more than worth it; to have the perfect ceremony against the perfect backdrop.  Nothing else compares.
